Smylez’ Legacy

The Chicago rapper and producer was pronounced dead on October 27, 2016, due to a brain aneurysm, sending shockwaves throughout the Hip-Hop industry. He’s regarded as a pioneer in Chicago’s drill rap music scene – even producing the highly acclaimed song, “Live & Die In Chicago,” by King Louie.

His unique ability to bring the city of Chicago together through music was profound, collaborating with many artists that would’ve typically refuse to work amongst one another, due to gang-affiliations.

The Last Project Before His Death

His last project, titled “Drill For A Deal“, echoed his inner turmoil of growing up in one of roughest neighborhoods in the United States – and his desire to break away from a life of poverty.
